The Town of High River is a Cool Little Town.  An easy 30 minute drive south of the city of Calgary on Highway 2, this pretty little western town is the official home of the popular TV show Heartland, which has been filming in the High River area since 2007. 

EXPLORE downtown High River's fun and diverse shopping experience featuring art galleries, unique gift shops, fashion boutiques, famous coffee shops, and live music night spots, while walking in the footsteps of a surprising number of famous people, from martial arts star Jackie Chan, to the man with no name - Clint Eastwood to Superman himself - the late Christopher Reeve.

High River's 2013 Visitor Information Centre at Sheppard Family ParkFrom May 17 to Labour Day (the first Monday in September), 2013, the High River Visitor Information Centre operates out of the lower level of the Munro Barn at

Sheppard Family Park on 12th Avenue at 5th St. SE.

Summer Hours of Operation: Open 7 days a week, 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.

From September to May, the Visitor Information Centre Operations shift over to the High River Business & Tourism Development Office located at 102, 120 4-Avenue SW, High River. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30pm, closed on statutory holidays. Other than the address change, our phone numbers and email remains the same, and we will do our best to answer your questions as quickly as possible.

  

The High River Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is your year-round source for comprehensive tourist information about the Town of High River including:

By Highway:

The Town of High River is located 30 minutes south of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Highway 2 at the junction of highways 2 and 23, ensuring easy access to Alberta's well maintained and efficient highway network.

By Air:

High River is located less than one hour(76km/47 miles) from the Calgary International Airport (YYC).  The High River Municipal Airport is conveniently located on the outskirts of town, 5 minutes from Highways 2 and 23, on Highway 2A.  It features a 3,000 foot lighted runway.
